dreaming

I cried in my dreams today

I know not why

I haven’t cried in waking hours

for so long I can’t remember even the memory of tears upon my face

or the memory of why

it isn’t sadness in the general way

or heartbreak

nor helpless anger

perhaps it is an awareness that we live among suffering

perhaps it is in our dreams that we see living without our lenses.
